Celebrate your accomplishments and learn more about the world-class opportunities available at USD. Your visit will include the Scholarship Recognition Luncheon, the opportunity to meet members of the university faculty, information about campus support services, optional campus tours and much more.

Scholarship Day Academic Showcases - Select two showcases to customize your visit.

  • Arts & Sciences: Be a TV News Anchor. “Audition” for an anchor spot on the set of the Coyote News TV studio and learn more about the academics and extracurricular activities that are part of the Department of Media & Journalism.
  • Arts & Sciences: Nanochemistry. Finding Purple Gold. Create gold nanoparticles in a chemistry lab and characterize the particles using uv/vis absorption spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy.
  • Business: Supply Chain Basketball. Making realistic and creative distribution decisions that win customers and make money!
  • Education: Scholarship. Service. Sport. Learn about opportunities in education, exercise science and sport management while developing a better understanding of how a passion for service and sport can lead to leadership positions in thriving industries.
  • Fine Arts: Imagine. Create. Inspire. Join current students in the John A. Day Gallery for showings, recitals and performances as they discuss and present their works.
  • Health Sciences: Leading Health Care. Faculty and students from the School of Health Sciences and Sanford School of Medicine use an array of techniques and approaches for serving clients’ needs. In this hands-on session, you’ll see how USD students are preparing to participate in the care of future patients.
  • School of Law: Making the Case. One of the USD national competition teams will present a problem being worked on for a national trial competition. Award-winning professor Tom Horton, will make remarks and answer questions about the presentation, law careers and how to best position yourself for admission to law school.
  • University Honors Program. Honors classes and opportunities at USD are creatively designed to help you build skills that will give you a competitive advantage in your chosen career. During this session, you will learn more about what the USD Honors Program can do for you and your future. Honors students generally have a 27+ ACT score and a 3.7+ GPA.

Scholarship Day Information Sessions - Choose from the below information sessions.

  • Dollars and Sense. Meet the financial aid staff to explore procedures and options to help make your USD education even more affordable.
  • Impact Your Universe. Explore the 170+ clubs, organizations and opportunities to become engaged in all aspects of your college experience. Meet current student leaders and student life staff while hearing how campus involvement can impact you, your personal universe and the entire university.
  • 5 Keys to 4 Years at USD. While every student is different, there are five key elements that contribute to a fulfilling college experience. The Academic and Career Planning Center will elaborate and give you a better sense of how to make the most of your educational experience at USD. You will leave this session better informed about USD's academic culture and what it takes to succeed in college.
  • Study Abroad & Service Learning: High Impact Practices. Join us to learn about opportunities offered to enrich your educational experience such as the FYE course for Global Learning, study abroad, faculty-led programs and National Student Exchange.
  • Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship: Learn. Grow. Discover. Whatever your major is, whatever your interests are, research opportunities are available at USD. Learn how you can join a research team, earn mini-grants, present at national conferences and conduct research at sites around the world.
